Halal Certification
Halal certification requirements vary by product, destination market, and certification authority. Fusion Certification helps organisations assess applicable requirements and prepare their Halal Management System documentation and operations for certification by a recognised Islamic certification body. We do not issue Halal certificates.
What is Halal Certification?
Halal (meaning 'permissible' in Arabic) certification confirms that food, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic products comply with Islamic law regarding prohibited substances (haram ingredients such as pork derivatives, alcohol, and non-halal-slaughtered meat), production hygiene, and cross-contamination controls. The certifying authority is always an Islamic certification body recognised in the target market — for example, JAKIM (Malaysia), LPPOM-MUI (Indonesia), IFANCA (US), or the Halal Certification Europe body. These bodies conduct product and facility inspections and issue certificates. Fusion Certification's role is upstream: we help manufacturers build and document the Halal Management System (HMS) — covering ingredient sourcing controls, processing aids review, cleaning and sanitation procedures, storage segregation, labelling, and training — so that your facility and records are organised before the certifying body conducts its assessment. We do not issue Halal certificates; we prepare you to pass the inspection.
Who Needs It?
- Food manufacturers exporting to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, or other Muslim-majority markets where Halal certification may be required — applicable requirements vary by product category, country, and the regulatory or religious authority in the destination market.
- Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies supplying Middle Eastern or South-East Asian markets where excipients and capsule shells must be verified as Halal-compliant.
- Cosmetics and personal care brands targeting Muslim consumers, where Halal status covers alcohol-free formulations and animal-derived ingredient restrictions.
- Food service operators and central kitchens supplying halal-required institutional clients (airlines, hospitals, hotels).
- Indian food exporters whose buyers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, or Malaysia require a certificate from a specific recognised Halal body.
- Ingredient and flavour manufacturers whose downstream customers require Halal-certified input materials.
How Fusion Helps
Ingredient & Raw Material Review: We audit your complete ingredient and processing aid list against Halal permissibility requirements, flag haram or mashbooh (doubtful) items, and help you identify compliant alternatives or obtain supplier Halal certificates.
Halal Management System Documentation: We develop your HMS documentation — Halal policy, ingredient approval procedure, supplier qualification records, cleaning validation protocols, staff training records, and internal audit checklists.
Facility & Process Review: We review your production layout, equipment, cleaning procedures, and scheduling to identify cross-contamination risks and document the controls required by Halal certification body standards.
Certification Body Selection: We advise on selecting the appropriate Halal certification body recognised in your target export markets and guide you through their application requirements.
Pre-Audit Preparation: We conduct a mock Halal inspection, review your documentation against the certifying body's checklist, and prepare your production and quality teams for the inspection.
