What is GLOBALG.A.P. Certification?
GLOBALG.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practice) is a private sector body that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products worldwide. GLOBALG.A.P. standards are applied in more than 135 countries. The Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard is modular, covering All Farm Base (AFB) requirements applicable to every producer, plus crop-specific modules for fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and ornamentals, combinable crops, and livestock and aquaculture. Many Indian fresh produce exporters pursue GLOBALG.A.P. IFA certification because European buyers and grocery retailers commonly list it as a supplier requirement — but whether it is required depends on the specific buyer's procurement policy. The standard covers food safety and traceability (pesticide records, water testing, harvest hygiene), environmental management (soil management, waste handling, biodiversity), worker health, safety and welfare, and integrated pest management.
